While many schools offer gifted education, we use a one-of-a-kind approach that goes well beyond the usual setting and requirements. Academically-, intellectually- and creatively-talented Talent Development Center (TDC) students spend the majority of their school day in an environment with likeminded-peers that foster their talents and abilities while allowing each student to develop an awareness of self in relation to others in their family, school, community, country, and world. The TDC also helps students develop and enhance higher-level thinking and communication skills through its innovative opportunities and lessons that maximize their potential.
Talent Development Center (TDC) students are immersed in a multi-age, intensive setting with no more than 20 students per class*. This environment allows TDC teachers to nurture and challenge each student to maximize their potential using the right blend of direction, time, encouragement, and resources. Within these intimate classrooms, TDC teachers can focus on educational, social and emotional needs under the umbrella of our school’s philosophy of educating the whole child – mind, body and spirit.
Curriculum for the Talent Development Center is determined by the interests and talents of the students accepted into the program within the guidelines of state-mandated requirements. Classes are taught using a variety of teaching methods to cultivate each child’s abilities while embracing their individual areas of strengths. Hands-on activities are offered each day to help hone skills in various subjects. Students are encouraged to pursue their individual interests, develop new talents and enhance their leadership qualities. Our program also reaches beyond the classroom by inviting students to participate in additional educational and creative activities, such as science fairs and community-awareness projects.
